Focaccia Bread

Olive Oil-Extra Light

Light, classy and delectable- Focaccia Bread is the first of many must-know recipes in Italian cuisine. Very easy to make and loaded with flavour, this bread is perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. With a layer of olive oil, some fresh herbs, garlic and some sundried tomatoes, this is an appetizer that pleases the eye just as much it pleases the palette!

Ingredients for the bread

  • Maida (Refined Flour)- 1/2 kg
  • Luke warm Water- 310 ml
  • Leonardo Just Lite Olive Oil- 10 ml
  • Yeast- I tsp
  • Sugar- 2 tsp
  • Salt- 1 tsp

Ingredients for the Seasoning

  • Italian Seasoning
  • Finely sliced Onion- 1
  • Sundried tomatoes or fresh tomatoes sliced
  • Leonardo Just Lite Olive oil- 25 ml
  • Water- 25 ml

Method

  • Mix the ingredients of the dough and knead for 10-15 mins till dough achieves a shiny consistency.Cover with damp cloth and leave it to rise for about 6 hours.
  • Once the dough has doubled in size-lay it on a flat surface and gently roll it out to the shape of your baking tray.
  • Lay the dough in the baking tray and with your fingers spread it out till it takes the shape of the baking tray.
  • Make dimples on the surface of the dough with your fingers.
  • Sprinkle generously with Italian seasoning.
  • Spread sliced onions and tomatoes on top.
  • Sprinkle with Himalyan Salt crystals.
  • Cover and leave to rest and second rise for 30-40 minutes.
  • Take Leonardo Just Lite Olive oil and water in a bottle-shake vigorously till it emulsifies.
  • Pour out all of this liquid on to the bread dough.
  • Place baking tray in pre heated oven and bake on high temperature for 25-30 minutes-or till bread start browning at the edges and partly on top.
  • Take out and eat while hot with Leonardo Olive oil infused with fresh herbs and garlic.
